| Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:1-4 |
| Sound No Trumpet |
| Did you know that charitable deeds don`t impress God? Why? Because giving is His idea. However, society tells us that we should be openly rewarded for acts of kindness and charitable good works. More glory goes to the person than to the cause it is supposed to help. Society sets its heart on prideful events so that others may be impressed by our “unselfish acts” by saying, “Hey, look what I did!” |
| According to the Word of God, society has it all wrong and is missing a Heavenly blessing because society wants its reward now. These works of the flesh are prideful and short-term. |
| The Lord gives us abundance to help others in secret so God gets the glory. When we give to others without sounding our own trumpet, God Himself promises that He will reward you openly before Heaven AND Earth. Giving God`s way reaps double blessings. (cw) |

| "Be careful in doing good things, don't do them in front of people |
| to be seen by them. If you do that, you wil have no reward from |
| your Father in Heaven. |
| When you give to the poor, don't be like the hypocrites. |
| They blow trumpets in thechurches and on the streets so that poeple will see them and honor them. I tell you the truth, those people already have their full reward. So when you give to the poor, don't let anyone know what you are doing. Your giving should be done in secret. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and He will reward you (openly)." |
