| Preparing for exams was always hard for me. I tended to over study so much that I would get a major case of the nerves on test day. |
|
| In college I had a teaching buddy named Marc that would coach and test me before our finals. I had tons of notes and note cards that he would grill me on come test day. Each time I aced them and he would say, “You know it.” Marc would hand me back my notes and I would test him on his stuff. When we were done, he would put his notes away, lay down and take a nap. I would continue to drill myself on the notes up to the time of testing. |

| Finally, I asked Marc, “How can you just lay down and take a nap?” He basically would say, “What I know I know. I`m not going to get upset over what I haven`t learned yet.” Anxiety over possible failure kept me from seeing what I already knew. A good word from someone finally helped me see that I too could relax, because I did “know what I know.” The stuff I didn`t know was less than what I did know, and getting a grasp on that was what got me through each test.
